About The Event

Information and Materials

Funky, flat, peep toe, ballet, chunky, boots, sandals, platform, ancient, modern,  high, low, painful, practical...what you choose to wear on your feet might differ from what you choose to draw in this fun vintage fashion workshop!

The aim of 'drop in and draw' is to provide an  opportunity to practice some techniques at home which you can then use whilst sketching in 'the wild'! Come and draw with me as we visit museums, collections, go on virtual city breaks,  and rummage through junk shops to find a host of interesting objects to explore...all from the comfort of our own sofa! Sketch quirky, beautiful and unique objects which all have their own tale to tell!

All of the drop in and draw sessions will begin with a demo of some techniques that you will find fun and useful to try out during the session which really help with getting going (something that we all of find difficult at times!). We will then have a go at drawing some objects, starting with quick loose warm up exercises and then moving onto longer timed sketches.  The aim of these classes is to sketch quietly and peacefully with opportunities to chat and ask questions inbetween each of the sketches. With regular drawing practice, you will grow in confidence and ability really quickly and your sketchbook will fill up in record quick time! All experience levels are welcome xx

What do I get when I buy?

  • You will receive a Zoom link on the morning of the live class.
  • There are no downloads required to print out before the workshop as all the images that you will be drawing from will appear on the screen during the class.
  • An email with a recording of the class will be sent out the following day to everyone who has purchased the workshop which is great if you are unable to attend the live class or would like to rewatch it.

What do I need to take part?

A pencil (2B)/pen and a sketchbook/some paper is all you need to get going! If you're not sure what to use, the pencil and paper is a brilliant 'low barrier' starting point.

I usually have a collection of various art materials that I can access during these workshops including

coloured pencils/water soluable pencils and crayons, coloured felt tip pens/markers, some paint (watercolour or gouache), an eraser, pencil sharpener, paint brush (pointed size 8-10), kitchen roll, water pot, palette

I also like to use sketching sessions to test out things I don't usually draw with like:

oil pastels, chalk pastels, graphite sticks, charcoal etc. Sometimes, I use bits of old paper that I collage onto the picture. If you'd like to try this then have a rummage for some interesting paper samples, glue stick and scissors!
